The Arriel 2 turboshaft engine features a very simple design, with a reduced number of parts and only five modules for easy maintenance. The Arriel 2S2 engine supplies 6 percent additional power compared to its predecessor, the Arriel 2S1. It is also fitted with an integrated double-channel digital control unit (EECU). The Arriel 2 has a TBO (Time Between Overhaul) of 3,500 hours. Certified in December 2005, the Arriel 2S2 powers the twin-engine medium lift S76C++ helicopter.
